School LVN, Lower and Middle Divisions; Grades PK - 8
Stevenson School is a PK-12 co-educational, college-preparatory, boarding and day school with enrollment of 770 students on two campuses in beautiful Central Coast California. The Upper Division campus (Grades 9-12) is located in Pebble Beach. The Lower/Middle Campus (Grades PK-8) is in nearby Carmel-by-the-Sea. Responsibilities include:
- Triage; assessment and treatment of acute illnesses and injuries and referral for outside medical attention, as needed
- Medication management, administration, and documentation (MAGNUS online platform)
- Coordination and management of individualized medical care plans developed in consultation with parents/guardians and health care providers for students with chronic conditions and/or higher level care needs
- Management of potential emergent events in the school setting (e.g., diabetes, asthma) to initiate and provide emergency care
- Educate key school personnel, as needed, about student health care plans and emergency response preparedness
- Effective and caring communication with families; to inform of injury or illness, coordinate follow-up care and/or return to school, provide general health and wellness guidelines, and/or provide guidance with regard to public health issues
- Provide a caring and calming presence and safe space for all students, particularly during high stress situations
- Coordination of health form collection in preparation for student arrival
- Delivery of timely reminders to parents when updated forms are required
- Collaborate with divisional leadership to implement and comply with protocols as established by federal and state law, CDPH, CDH, and/or school policy
- Work with the upper division health center team to facilitate annual flu shot clinics, booster clinics, testing, and/or collection and documentation of proof of vaccination, as needed, for PK-8 students, faculty, and all Carmel Campus staff
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field
- State of CA LVN licensure; must be current as of start date
- Three to five years of full-time experience in a clinical setting; school based or pediatric practice experience is highly desirable
- Strong assessment skills and ability to apply good clinical judgment
- Ability to analyze emergency situations accurately and take prompt action
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to make independent decisions when needed
- Genuine enthusiasm to work with children in the PK-grade 8 age group
- A caring, positive and helpful attitude and approach
- Highest standard of professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of Google Workplace and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Magnus online records platform
The anticipated hourly wage range for this position is $35 - $39. In addition to competitive compensation, Stevenson is pleased to provide a comprehensive benefits package including Anthem Blue Cross health insurance plans and generous retirement plan contributions.
